Yesterday, Phriend and I went on a little “tour” up the Hudson river– we made three different stops and our first was to Liberty State Park. Liberty State Park is a huge state park in northern NJ that overlooks the Manhattan skyline, as well as the Statue of Liberty. It’s the place where we went last September to see the 9/11 Tribute Lights. This time, however, we headed down to the very edge where we could see the NYC skyline. They were putting the final spire on the new Freedom Tower (aka- One World Trade Center), and that makes it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Down in this area is the “Empty Sky Memorial” which is a tribute to the lives lost on 9/11. It consists of two large metal structures with names engraved on the inside, along with two pieces taken from the World Trade Center.
