We have had nothing but fog for close to two months now – we saw the sun for a bit on Saturday, but before that, we hadn’t seen the sun in ages. Today, not only was it sunny, it was also clear enough to see Mt. Spokane- something I don’t think I’ve seen since before Thanksgiving! It was 9* when I took this shot, but who knows when we’ll get to see it again!

Coming and Going
Another idea for my Lensbaby Yin and Yang contest (see my other idea here. This time it’s the coming and going of the commuters during evening rush hour. I used a Lensbaby composer to shoot this (hence the blur around the edge), and I held a neutral density filter in front of the lens so that I could make it a 30 second exposure.
Downtown Spokane
For our first full day, I took my aunt downtown to show her around the downtown area and Riverfront Park – I’ve never seen Riverfront park blanketed in snow, and I definitely think it makes it look more magical!

Happy New Years!
These were technically taken after midnight so they count for today, right?
I can’t believe I am entering into my 4th year of taking a photo a day!
I’m not one for making resolutions, but I feel that my photography has really been slacking the past few months, so I’m hoping to break out of my rut, learn how to use my speedlight flash, and better learn how to use Lightroom this year. Did anyone else make any photography resolutions this year?
New Year’s Eve
For new years eve, my husband, some friends and myself decided to try the “First Night Spokane” – First Night is an event held in many areas and is a night filled with events and no alcohol (yay!). I’ve never been to one, but it seemed like a great opportunity to hang out downtown and see fireworks over the Spokane river, something I had heard was awesome.
We crammed a lot into a few short hours- we watched an improv show, had a sketch made of the two of us, rode the historical Looff Carousel (something I’ve been wanting to do), watched a karaoke competition and of course, got to countdown to midnight and watch the fireworks.
Happy New Year to all- here’s hoping 2014 is just as awesome as 2013 was!
This is totally not my kid, but I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures (incognito of course) of her playing with the chalk wall.

Gaiser Conservatory
In the middle of my favorite park is a large greenhouse/conservatory that is filled with flowers and cacti of all sorts. For two weeks at Christmas, volunteers decorate the entire conservatory with lights and open it up to the public to enjoy. Mike and I went, and it was absolutely stunning! No tripods are allowed, and you have to keep up with the pace of the others enjoying it, but I was able to snap a few pictures inside (hehe– who are we kidding- just a few?)

Christmas at the Davenport
A few weeks ago, as I was gearing up to make my own Gingerbread House, someone told me about the annual Gingerbread House competition at a local swanky hotel, the Davenport. I researched it, and today, Mike and I went. There were 5 teams competing, and this one from a local bakery was my favorite.
I don’t know what was more gorgeous- the houses, or the interior of this gorgeous hotel!
Happy Fall Y’All
Hockey Time!
Honestly, I’m not a huge sports fan, but I do love going to minor league games- baseball and hockey are my favorite and lucky for us, we have a minor league hockey team that plays just 5 minutes from us! The Spokane Chiefs lost their game tonight, but it was still a good time spent with good friends!
